Yup

My man is being whipped around by his hypochondriac delusions due to my cycle.

This we've understood.

Now, what to do about it?

We had a good talk last night. It seems like a multi-pronged approach is needed: He needs some mild head meds for now at least, he needs to talk about his feelings of fear and anxiety regarding our attempts at reproducing, and he needs to go see doctors on occasion, just to rule out anything serious.

He's done all three, and seems to be getting a grip on things. Too bad I'm still exhausted (and terribly bitchy) and not really able to do more than encourage him to get his shit together because I need him.

I need him because I still feel like crap and can't seem to focus. All my work--which is all mental--is grinding along painfully. I have tons to do, and can't seem to do any of it well or very efficiently. This leads to a great deal of stress at a time with I seem to be able to tolerate no stress at all.

Sigh. At least it's pretty outside, thanks to several inches of snow.

I triggered last night, and our IUI's tomorrow morning.

I wish you both the best of luck!! I'm sorry this is so hard on your man. but talk about empathy!! taking on your pain!

I can see he is going to be one of those pregnant-expectant fathers who feels all the same bloaty, nauseous symptoms. :)

I hope the meds and talking it through helps.

I know I've said this before, but I'm going to say it again. Going through fertility treatment is hard. Writing up a dissertation is hard. Trying to do both at the same time is unbelievably hard, particularly when you are also having to support someone else through their own fears and anxieties. If you need to take some time away from work, then do so. Don't be too hard on yourself.

And good luck tomorrow!

I can't imagine trying to do any mental heavy-lifting while I was on an IUI cycle-- your brain just isn't at its prime with all of the hormonal manipulation. And it's really too bad that you have to put energy toward helping your guy with his stuff... not that you wouldn't, but you need all the support you can get right now from him, and your energy is best used for yourself, rather than helping him with perceived health issues when you have real ones. That's not meant to be harsh, we deal with what we each have to deal with. I'm just saying, it's too bad.

Good luck tomorrow! I am sending good thoughts.

IF is tough on everyone, don't be too hard on yourself. I'm glad that your DH is seeking help. That's a step in the right direction.

hugs.

Oh boy! Good luck with the IUI!

Encouraging him to get his shit together is plenty.

Somehow I missed this yesterday, but the Lost & Found alerted me. I'm thinking of you today with the IUI & hope your dh can pull himself together to focus on you for awhile.

Here's hoping that this one works without the drama of last time! :)

Just listening and abiding with you, and along with many others, honouring how difficult things are for you right now. You have a truly immense life right now, my friend, and it's no wonder you don't have much juice for solving problems or mental work. Wishing you spaciousness with it all, and for a quiet peace to envelop you.

Type A much? OMG, you have lots on your plate and you're handling it v. gracefully. So happy hubby is taking a new (and yes, scary) approach to working on his stuff. Just remember: Luke and Princess Leah made it out of the trash compactor. (What? You said you loved BSG... I can use geeky sci-fi references if I wanna!)
