Consolation Prize

I've gotten so that I give myself a treat every cycle when I could theoretically get knocked up and then the Red Army marches in, arms swinging, baritones blasting. This month--the Reds knocked this morning--it's a new pair of running shoes from the fancy-pants jogging store and the sign up fee for triathlon training. Fortunately, I almost instantly start feeling fantastic once the red star starts gleaming. Though I always feel stupid for hoping. This month, I had lots of fun symptoms and I really had some hope.

Thanks for playing, Shinejil! Better luck next month.

Damn. I bet you'd rather have a baby than a new pair of running shoes. Sorry this month wasn't THE month.

Aw, hon, I'm sorry that the Red Army has once again invaded. It just sucks no matter how you look at it. However, I think your rewards program is fabulous. New running shoes bring the promise of new accomplishments, which in our game are so important. Best of luck on the triathalon training.

As for hope, well, my own personal opinion is that it's a four letter word, not just a town in Arkansas.

Hugs.

OH sweetie, I feel your disappointment with you, deeply. I was hoping so much. I'm really sorry, and I hope you enjoy those new fancy running shoes, even if they are not what you really wanted, it is still a good reminder that you are important and you have yourself to take care of. Wish I could give you a big hug.

I think its a great idea to look forward to a present if AF comes! I LOVED your last post, so elegantly written!

I give myself a vicodin on the first day, and copious amounts of wine on each subsequent day. It's just my gift to myself for putting up with myself's bad attitude.

I am sad to read that the "Reds" visited. I was hoping (by reading through the lines) for you this month, too. Oh, well. Enjoy the shoes and the tri training... you will have a blast!

it's hard to hold out those hopes every month. but a little retail therapy every once in a while makes an acceptable consolation prize... have fun training, if fun is the right word... ~luna
